Mend-A-Bath International (Pty) Ltd (MABI) has been in the bathtub refinishing business since 1976, and operating as a (Pty) Ltd private company since 1991.  MABI is a member of the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber as well as the International Franchise Association.

MABI produces its own professionally formulated coating material (paint) for the refinishing (also known as resurfacing, reglazing and re-enameling) of bathroom fixtures like bathtubs, basins, shower enclosures (cubicles), and tiles.  The coating materials are packaged into kit form, and these kits are distributed to franchisees and agents both locally and internationally.  MABI also packages and exports a DIY version of its refinishing kits, called TUBBY DIY.

The Head Office building in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, also houses the manufacturing facility.  All batches of coating material produced are laboratory tested for compliance with MABI quality standards before being packed into refinishing kits.  All coating batches produced are bar-coded and scanned into a database, so that tracking of batches is made possible against orders dispatched.

As far as is known MABI is the only company in South Africa that produces its own bathtub refinishing coating materials, and one of probably less than 10 international companies to do so worldwide.  Comprehensive training is provided for all new franchisees at the Head Office in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  MABI’s track record is not only in producing high-quality bathtub refinishing coating products, but also in excellent customer service.  Every year, franchisees refinish thousands of bathtubs in institutions like hotels/flats/housing associations, and also in private domestic homes.  The tried and tested coating materials enable the franchisees to offer a 5-year guarantee on bathtub refinishing work.  Customers have recourse to MABI Head Office if they have any problems with service from one of the franchisees.

Technical training
